How I Plan On Staying In Touch

Since I am moving back to the wonderfully remote Prince Edward Island from busy London Town, I want to stay in touch with friends and colleagues, while also disconnecting from the online social web just a bit more. I don’t want to end up saying I want to keep in touch just to feel better about leaving only to send them a reel once every five months, I want to keep up the relationship in ways we do now, only in different continents.

One idea I plan on having is keeping my WhatsApp with my new Canadian number. I want phone. numbers. not just a social media.

For people I serve at work or people less than friends, I am going to offer my email or my social media (to then give my new number) when leaving so we can keep in contact, and then I will be writing them all in my little contact book, I feel this could be useful for later connections.

For good friends I want to create a snail mail club where we send each other mail every other month. It’s physical, it’s personal, it’s sentimental, and it’s creative, which most of my friends are.

Anyways I’m really solidifying my leaving now so it’s really gotten me thinking about how to ensure I leave the least amount of sadness and dread about my departure for everyone involved.
